Today…I am thankful.

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”  Emerson

This week my focus was thankfulness.  I find how easily I get caught up in a million things and forget to focus on how blessed I really am.  It’s something Ben and I talk about quite a bit: Highs and Lows for the day, things we’re thankful for…it’s a good practice to get into.  So without further ado, my thankful list for this week.

Monday:

I’m thankful for silence,

for Evan buying me a wonderful mocha latte,

and for God desiring praise from broken people.

Tuesday:

I’m thankful for the Spirit enabling sinners to walk in a new way of life, men who would otherwise be enslaved by their desires, now free. “But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.” (Romans 7:6)

Wednesday:

I’m thankful for encouragement from people, specifically my boyfriend, who blesses me continually, and is used by God to give me a verbal hug on days when I need it the most.

Thursday:

I’m thankful for an all powerful, just, holy God, who channels unmeasurable amounts of love on worthless sinners.  “And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of Him!  Who then can understand the thunder of his power?” (Job 26:14-One of the beautiful gems I’ve gleaned from my Job elective.)

Friday:

I’m thankful for conversations with my family,

half asleep morning fellowship with always encouraging Claire,

and a God who is a faithful Pursuer.  “I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.” (2 Corinthians 11:2- Eeeeeash! I love this verse! And I love how some versions speak of “betrothal”.)

This week is the craziest ever.  I know I say that a lot, but 6 hours of classes and chapel plus office work and dorm responsibilities is quite a bit.

Truth overload. And it’s GRAND.

PS It’s sweater weather folks! 🙂
